Evaluating the Availability of Condoms and Other Health Products in Morobe, NCD and Central, Western Highlands and East New Britain Provinces. First Round.
by Population Services International (PNG)
This was an evaluation study on the availability of condoms five provinces of PNG.
Results show that coverage for all brands of condoms is low in all sampled supervision areas. Penetration was low across all supervision areas: Generic condoms distributed by the National Department of Health were found in all health facilities within the sampled census units and socially marketed condoms were mostly found in pharmacies. Penetration of condoms in hot zones is higher than in other non-high risk areas. Willingness to sell condoms was high at 80%, indicating that there is a large potential for increasing condom availability throughout the country.
